When importing a course structure into an LMS I think it would be useful if the course structure contained an image for the course.
In a catalog of courses an image would probably be very helpful. I suspect that most LMS have the ability to add an image to a course, it would be helpful if the image was in the metadata.
I believe that this can already achieved with extensions. However, I think that it would more useful if it was in the spec because it would get greater adoption from authoring tools.
Discussion points could include:
- should image be mandatory
- should courses, bocks, objectives and units have an image property
- should the value be an array or URL
- would the URL be absolute or relative
- could there be different images for different languages
