Crop-specific variables

Many crops or classes of crops are associated with specific terms that are meaningless for other crops. A good example is in cotton, where "plant map" variables are much more detailed than for other crops and fiber quality is especially important. There also are simple differences in terms for organs like pods, fruits, capsules, and bolls that botanically refer to the same organ.
We certainly don't want to overload the main mist of measured crop data with crop-specific terms. One option would to create an additional sheet/table that includes crop as an identifier. It also could include the equivalent generic ICASA term.
