Is it possible to use a custom mpv.conf on desktop? if so, what is the path?

At the moment not, we can set parameters in the library we use https://github.com/media-kit/media-kit but that is not exposed at the moment. This would also have low priorety if we even would implement this.

Just out of curiosity what would you use/do with editing the config file?

A common use would be to load glsl shaders.

I don't actually know what your defaults or options if there are any are, so I'm not sure if setting profile=high-quality is being done.

The most important thing for me personally and what will seemingly limit me to jellyfin-mpv-shim forever is having profiles set up that will automatically swap the vo between gpu and gpu-next so I can set target-colorspace-hint=yes for hdr content and blend-subtitles=video for things like anime.

I understand it's a niche case and whatever yall are using is probably great for most people.

Currently the only config option Fladder uses is force-seekable=yes, so it should be possible. However not sure how many of these options actually work. Especially since Flutter has basically no HDR support.
