I noticed that people copy (and modify) a text from
https://www.contributor-covenant.org/version/2/0/code_of_conduct/ into their software pojects. What
license terms use that text?

Is it Hippocratic License 3.0 as can be found in these sources here https://raw.githubusercontent.com/EthicalSource/contributor_covenant/refs/heads/release/LICENSE.md?

2 years ago it was allegedly CC-BY-4.0 #473.

One of those people reporting here. :-) I... don't think that adopting and modifying the covenant means that the license should automatically switch to the Hippocratic License, but in very spirit of the Code of Conduct I thought it might be worthwhile to peek here and confirm that the intent matches my assumptions.

The Hippocratic License 3.0 is persistent:

5.2 […] any
derivative work stemming from the Software or its code must be distributed
pursuant to this License

But I also hope that is not the intent of Organization for Ethical Source to use that licence. Otherwise, I would have to keep scraping that document from my Fedora packages as Fedora legal finds Hippocratic License 3.0 unacceptable for Fedora Project https://gitlab.com/fedora/legal/fedora-license-data/-/issues/717.

Contributor Covenant is licensed under CC. The Contributor Covenant website is licensed under the HL3. They are separate.

Great to hear it. But could you be more specific? Which CC https://spdx.org/licenses/? CC-BY-4.0?

To resolve the uncertainty for good, could you add this statement to the Contributor Covenant document, probably to the Attribution section?

I see. Would it be possible to add it to the previous versions too? When people adopt the document, they hard-code a link to a specific version and there, e.g. for 2.0, is nothing.
