how to quickly switch between tabs by name ?

when working with tons of tabs it´s always a pain in the a... to find the already opened tab with a specific name. is there any hotkey or plugin or anything that can help me here ? i am looking for something like a "go anywhere" hotkey where I start typing the first letters of open tabs and get a list of all that match and by using the arrow keys I can choose one of the existing open tabs.
as we all know this functionally from any browser, I am very surprised no such thing exists - if I am not wrong.

seriously, how can people work without that ? if i have 20 tabs open, how the heck shall i find the one I need, that’s insane that this simple, most important feature is still missing 😢

please don't take me wrong,
but I think the problem is that you're working with tons of tabs, and that you can't code.

If you could code, you would end your exclamation "that’s insane that this simple, most important feature is still missing" with "okay, I'm on it, already making it".

In Mac or MS world, you pay and complain.
FOSS world doesn't have "services" and "products" and "customers", but members of a group, developers and users. The former work, the latter help any way they can.
No offense!

SUGGESTION

Scrolling through tabs with the mouse wheel would be helpful feature.

till then:

• Adding colors to your tabs can make your work more comfortable.
• opening multiple application windows might also help...
• using a 16:9 monitor is also a good thing cause tab titles can be read...
• giving smart names to the connections is a key thing, like a01, a02, b01, b02... etc..

BUT I'm sure you'll manage :)

This is basically like buying a car without a steering wheel and the seller telling you:

“You obviously can’t drive.”

Then giving you these amazing workarounds:

• buy a plane instead

• only drive straight

• buy 3 cars:

  • one for straight
  • one permanently turning left
  • one permanently turning right

• use colored stickers

• get a bigger windshield

Or maybe… just add the steering wheel in the first place 😂

Try this one. Done with Claude Code in 10 minutes. Unpack it to %APPDATA%\tabby\plugins\node_modules, restart Tabby and set a shortcut key in Tabby settings for "Open tab search"
