The Reality

I have noticed a few bugs with the new cache mode ME Outputs:

First, Cache Mode still doesn't consistently have void protection. For example, I have a Mixer making CeLu Oxygen Blend. Even if there are items in the stocking bus, it says "Not enough Output Space" when the cell is full. HOWEVER, on the Forge Hammer that crushes the exquisite gems down to the normal ones, this doesn't work. And I suspect that it is because I have an HV Output Bus, filtered to Flawless CeLuAG (pointing directly into an HV Input Bus), and an ME Output Bus with a cell filtered to the normal CeLuAG. Now, if I insert more Flawless CeLuAG into the input bus, it ignores the void protection. But when I insert something else (like two rods to be made into a long rod), it says "Not enough Output Space".

Second, when a machine is in batch mode, it calculates the batch size without regarding the size of the storage cell in the output bus. For example, a mixer with a 1k Storage Cell in the output bus will still make 3ML of Diluted Sulfuric Acid in one batch, even though the cell can only fit 2ML. And while the machine will correctly store the output until the cell is (almost) full, it will void the rest.

Third, an ME Output in Cache mode will store output that a machine has produced, even if it is not part of a network. However, it will only show the cached stacks in WAILA, once it us cibbected to an ME network.

I will append this list if I find more bugs

For the first issue, check if you have Check Mode enabled. if it's on, the machine will try to insert items directly into cell instead of just into cache, which will check if the cell have enough space for the output.
For the second one. I think it was fixed in Daily 436. However, waila won't show the cache contents while in Cache Mode.
For the third issue, the me output bus only transfers items from cache to the cell once it's connected to the network and waila won't show the cache contents in Daily 436. So, it will not show anything until it connect to the network in Daily 436.

Alright, the first one doesn't happen with Check Mode anymore. Good to know that that is a thing. I hope these features are mentioned in the ME Output Bus/Hatch quests at some point.

This PR hasn't been merged yet. However, it shouldn't void anything except for the Distillation Tower.
I think it's just a case of WAILA showing misleading information.

So you're saying that the machine is just showing the wrong amount of output in the controller when running the recipe? Or that everything that is produce beyond what the cell can handle is stored in an extra (invisible) buffer?

The controller is showing the correct amount, and everything is stored in an extra invisible buffer in cache mode and it's just not visible in waila yet.

Actually, I'm a bit confused. I think you should solve the first issue with check mode disabled.
Check mode is used for cards in the cell such as the Equal Distribution Card, and its output won't block the buffer.
Basically, you can think of Check mode as just telling the machine to skip the buffer.

I see... How big is the invisible buffer? Cause the Forge Hammer ate 2048 flawless CeLuAG, which would mean there are over 6k items in the invisible buffer. And that sounds like a bit too much to me.
And speaking of equal distribution: Will the invisible buffer also be distributed? Because if that runs full of one type of item, there is no sense in having the Equal Distribution Card

The invisible buffer is as large as the cell, without the type limit.
