Subject: When will NVIDIA release official CUDA packages (installer/apt repo) for Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (Noble Numbat)?
Hello NVIDIA CUDA team,
Ubuntu 26.04 LTS (beta) is now available (final release planned for April 23, 2026), and many developers/AI researchers are already testing or planning upgrades.
Current situation:
Ubuntu 26.04 now includes NVIDIA 595 driver in official repos.
Canonical has announced at GTC 2026 that they will distribute CUDA directly in Ubuntu 26.04 archives.
However, NVIDIA’s official CUDA repo (developer.download.nvidia.com) does not yet list ubuntu2604 as a supported OS (only up to 24.04)NVIDIA NGC.
Manual installation of CUDA 13.2 on Ubuntu 26 fails due to missing OS support checks and repo availability.
Questions:
When will NVIDIA publish official CUDA packages (deb/apt repo + runfile installer) for Ubuntu 26.04 LTS x86_64?
Will CUDA 13.2 (or newer) be the first version to support Ubuntu 26.04?
Is there an expected timeline (e.g., day-one support with Ubuntu 26.04 final release, or later)?
Many AI/ML and HPC users rely on official NVIDIA CUDA repos for stability, updates, and compatibility. Early clarity on support timeline would help us plan OS upgrades.
Thank you!
