IEC61131-10 Open XML Generation?

I've been putting together a feature for Rusty that can convert Structured Text to XML. The XML format can be imported into a development environment such as Sysmac Studio. You'll find this feature under the omron-xml-target branch, in my fork.

An example compilation command would be:

plc ./source/clampandsaw.st --xml-omron -i ./source/externals.st -l iec61131std -l ws2_32 -l ntdll -l userenv -o ./compiled/lib_structured_text.xml

I've used a Sysmac specific XML template as a &'static str in hopes that the feature will be able to support Codesys, later on. Let me know your ideas so I can better prepare my feature for a successful merge request.

Keeping this previous talking point in mind, I'm not sure my generator is actually IEC61131-10 compliant but I know it imports into Sysmac successfully. I need guidance from someone who has a copy of the specification.

Here is what my feature is currently producing from Rusty with the following input:
clampandsaw.st.txt
lib_structured_text.xml

Some things are still not working.

• External References in POUs are not yet being generated.
• Builtin Global Variables specific to Omron's platform must be stubbed with {external}s.

Also there are some Nice To Haves:

• Global pattern input files for xml conversion.

  This works for -c so why not other compilation modes?

• Remove tab characters in the first indentation column.

• External Stubs file for Omron Builtin Global Variables.

• Support Unions.

• Support network publish modes for globals.

• Sysmac requires all Statement Blocks to end with a semicolon. Print a warning if the --xml-omron argument is given?

actions, classes, methods, init functions, project init functions are not supported by Sysmac Studio but could be added in a separate merge request focused on Codesys.
