I love the git/github page the Knowledge Hub. Great work!
I'd like to suggest adding a note about .gitignore files to the Git guidance page. Specifically, recommending that users create a .gitignore statement when initializing a new repo to ensure data files aren't accidentally committed.
This fits well into the existing best practices section and directly supports our data security protocols. It's especially relevant for our research teams who are likely to be using Git with datasets.
I'd suggest placing it in the "Best Practices" section, and possibly also calling it out in the "Create a Repository" tutorial so users set it up early. It might be useful to provide a template .gitignore file that researchers can use for typical project structures. It could include other common formats (.csv, .xlsx) in addition to .dta.
