Summary of discussions between micro:bit and Blockly on November 12-13, 2024: Most locations have multiple possible actions, and the default action would vary significantly by location type. This means that the user needs to already know a lot about the system to predict the behaviour of a default action, and a user who didn't know the system would struggle to understand why Blockly responded the way it did. There is a long list of available options on a block. We will likely implement all of these and then experiment and trim down the list to make it manageable. Possible actions:

Currently, pressing Enter on an input socket opens the last-used toolbox category. One of the questions the users posed was: Would it be possible to modify the flyout to show a contextually relevant category or blocks to the input socket in focus? |
