Summary of Screen Reader Testing

Hi everyone,
We conducted another round of testing with an experienced screen reader user (JAWS + Chrome, later verified with NVDA) on v3.0.1 (was done on Sept 3rd, 2025) and here is a summary of the feedback given:

Key Pain Points:

• Block and toolbox navigation (e.g. Right arrow moves item-by-item, not by level)
• Labels on colour fields, toolbox items, and blocks
• Focus bugs, especially in the toolbox and when creating variables (e.g. focus disappears, or jumps unexpectedly)

We understand many screen reader features are still in progress, but we hope this feedback helps. Let us know if you’d like us to break out any items into specific issues. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for creating this @joreneng! Just to get some clarity: which version of the plugin were you using? Since we don't push regular versions, testing will need to integrate directly with the add-screen-reader-support-experimental branch and, depending on when you pulled that, it may have been out of date.

Could you maybe check if these are all still issues or if there are any other problems when integrating with the latest changes on add-screen-reader-support-experimental? Feel free to reach out if you have any questions on doing that, as well.

Hi Ben, this testing was done on the test screen reader page. But I can definitely test again with JAWS and get back to you on that.
