Would it be possible to add a pause and ETA feature?

Hello,

Firstly, thank you for writing such a straight-forward GUI for VMAF. It's incredibly useful. Using a 12GB x265 file as "Source", and a 2.5GB x265 file as "Compressed", the decompressing is taking a significant amount of time, which is expected. The uncompressed file is already at 306GB!

If possible, it would be useful to have a few extra features:

• The progress bar appears to be static with larger files. Over 500GB should show something in the progress bar.
• If possible, a very approximate ETA would be highly useful. Even a piece of text stating that 'an x GB source file is likely to take x minutes' so the user has a rough idea of how long the process is likely to take.
• A 'pause' button would also be useful, and as of writing this sentence the 12GB source file is now at 516GB and I need to remove some files in order to free up space.
• Is it possible to automatically delete the temp directory after the log is displayed?
• I had to exit the application as the temp file reached over 540GB, leaving me with about 30GB of space. However, does stop the application, but doesn't stop ffmpeg from continuing to process the file. The only way to stop ffmpeg is to force-close. I will create a new bug report.

What's your view on these requests?

Think of this program as an alias for ffmpeg and vmaf commands. If I remember correctly I should be able to get stdout from ffmpeg and vmaf. I haven't touched this project in any serious capacity since I created it about a year ago but I can try my best. Originally I wanted to have the progress bar be more dynamic but ran into issues. As for a 'pause' button I don't think that that is possible unless I can figure out a way to tell ffmpeg to stop what it's doing and continue at will. FFMPEG not stopping when you exit the program is definitely a bug I did not see coming so that's definitely worth looking into

Thank you. You may have not have touched it in a year, but it still works well and only has a few issues. For a simple VMAF GUI, it's great.

I'm able to extract the current line for stdout for the child processes. I can add a label form control that displays the current line from stdout. This would be the simplest way to show progress to the user. If I want to do anything fancier than that I'd prefer to just start over and code the whole thing again using electron 😄

Also adding a stop button would be a good feature to add as well. After creating a function that kills all subprocesses adding that function as an event listener for the form close event should be trivial

The OutputDataRecieved Event on a process handle fires whenever the process outputs a line to stdout. With some work, I should be able to extract the current progress of the process and update the progress bar accordingly.

First of all, thank you very much to the developer for providing us with this intuitive way to run the VMAF evaluation, at first I was evaluating the difference between the encoding and the original file of a video of about 2 hours in length, and then I realized that the whole time I was writing to disk, and the steps were stuck in the process of "unpacking the resources", which looked like it was stuck, and the feedback from this guy convinced me that the program was actually working correctly, but it just looked like it was dead!
