Support for SQL selects?

If updates are being planned, it would be really nice to have support for SQL selects. If you do something like

select firstname,lastname from mydatabase into cursor newcursor

then the system knows that newcursor is a cursor, but it doesn't present firstname and lastname as fields.  If possible, it would be good to have this work with SQLEXEC as well.
