Maximized window just "hang" when enabling/disabling second monitor

So when I enable my second monitor "dynamically" ( using xrandr ), any window that's maximized just "hangs". It doesn't redraw anymore and I need to "unmaximize it" ( which will cause it to also jump to the other monitor for some reason ) and then that resumes it. I can then maximize it again, it then works fine, it's only for maximized client when switching on/off second monitor ...

make sure you running the latest git commit of awesome with default rc.lua - and check if you still could reproduce the problem

@actionless I retried with latest git and running default rc.lua same behavior.
@Aire-One It didn't offer a template when I created the issue ... where can I find it ?

To enable the monitor, I plug the usb-c cable to my laptop and use xrandr --output DP-3 --above eDP-1 --mode 3440x1440 -r 85

Also I should have said, this is not new. I've had the issue for as long as I can remember, across two laptops and several installs ... it's just that before using an external monitor was a very rare occasion so I figured at some point it might get fixed. But well, several years later it's still not, so I'm not sure if other don't have the issue or something is different for me or what ...

i just was never noticing any similar behavior (i also have a second usb-c display), so mb it's some weirdnesses from video driver, try running awesome with --no-argb option or with picom

and also assign to some hotkey a debug code which would find your client and would write to which screen it assigned, and its coordinates and other client properties - mb that would give some hint
