Selective loopback display

Hello,
Here's a question, a suggestion, regarding Vimix and the loopback display.
Would it be possible for the loopback display to play only certain files based on their position as layers? For example: 5 layers, only the three furthest ones should be looped.

That was today's question.

Hi !
It is now possible in the fresh beta version !! (commit aa12681)

Create a Loopback source and set its mode to 'Local scene' : the source seems transparent, as it shows what is behind it.
This allows for example to apply a filter only to an area of the mix output;

Then, you can clone this loopback to move copies of the selected mix area.

Hi,
Perfect. It's even better than I imagined. A new tool to learn; I haven't figured it all out yet, but I'm not complaining—I'm the one who asked for it ' ;--)). One small problem: the basic "import a file" command opens the window, but it's impossible to navigate within it. Nothing is selectable, and I can't access the directory tree (no problem with the Snap version) Everything is fine if i drag and drop the file. I'm using Ubuntu 25.10; maybe it's a permissions issue...? In any case, thank you so much and well done. Vimix always intrigues the people I introduce it to.
