I guess you are right, but I noticed a lot of Issues with "question" label and decided to create it instead of discussion. IDK what is best practice in this case.

Hello, it's ok... however, I cannot provide further information on this matter, as I am not involved with the Faceit Anti-Cheat.
As noted in the other issues and in the README file, SnapKey does not interact with any game files.
The code uses the Windows API to handle keyboard input and system tray functions.

#5 - Platforms like Faceit & others will need to give a statement about this feature since, it will become more popular in the future also by other keyboard brands.

I mean I'd personally like to know whether it's bannable for using the software as a background app to get a functional of Snap Tap or whether it's not bannable

hello guys, i reached out directly to faceit about this. since i kind of don't understand why people are allowed to use snap tap or rappy snappy but are scared to use this, which is way better for me in my opinion. i play overwatch 2, cs, valorant... so making multiple config files like the null-bind scripts in cs for all these games would be a hassle, since not all games support console/cfg alias modding.

when i get an answer, i will tell you.

since faceit allowed snap tap/rappy snappy and null-binds (for now), why not allow this? it's open source... they should check the code and give the community an answer, as the owner mentioned - i also don't see it engaging with any game file, just windows api functions only.

I'm curious; I hope you won't get an automated reply.

Maybe it is, can't be sure about it since Razer's ass software isn't open-source.

Also if they allowed snap tap or rappy snappy, and some people consider it as cheating since it is/was exclusive for some keyboards only and gave the players some advantage + not everyone had a simple access to it. then either allow it for everyone or ban it for everyone, now we have a open source solution that works as intended for everyone despite the model of your keyboard.

It would be a big L for em if they disallow using this open-source software. It would be a REAL pay2win like "wanna be legit? pay for the whitelisted firmware".

I'm also thinking about whether it's possible or not to tweak/edit cheap keyboards firmware and add SnapTap as we got good open-source projects by good enthusiasts, why not to continue it further? In my case i'm the owner of Red Square Keyrox TKL and firmware is...ass. I could edit the software files easily as far as I remember which is yikes. Also saw there some Chinese language, which means the firmware was simply bought, not even self-coded.

What you need to understand is that you don't need to tweak any keyboard firmware. Snap Tap is simply locked behind a firmware trigger: "if Keyboard model X -> then Unlock SnapKey in Razer Synapse". That's why you need Razer Synapse to activate it, since it probably only checks the model number of the keyboard to toggle the software on/off. As you can tell from SnapKey, it's possible on every keyboard. The entire "exclusivity" is just marketing to sell overpriced products.

I'll never get Razer Synapse ever again. It has so much processes in background holy crap. Literally a bloatware. However good observation
