I use yarn patch a lot in yarn v4 but seems like npm and yarn v1 doesn't support it also , the rest of ecosystem supports it

In the V3 of module-replacements we will be able to see the package manager ? If so we could have a replacement for the case the dep is used in a package manager that already has it built in

Could we help improve patch-package by contributing to it? Or is there maybe a good alternative for it?

Yeah for sure we can contribute to remove a lot of patch-package deps 🙏

they use for example "chalk" and "fs-extra" which we have replacements

@43081j is it possible with module replacements v3 to say I want to replace "patch-package" for builtin patch in bun, etc and for the rest we don't have a specific replacment ? Created an issue for us to track as I think it can be a good idea: es-tooling/module-replacements#464

as mentioned in the module replacements issue, this is an ecosystem issue since we don't have a way to suggest replacements based on your package manager. we're not adding that any time soon as there are other priorities too for now

Okay thanks for sharing @43081j, I guess we can create some issues or validate if there are already for changing dependencies on patch-package
