Commit status broken for Kustomizations

After the changes made in commit ea175dd, notification-controller is expecting Kustomization resources to have the commit metadata key. I am unsure if previous functionality should be restored for Kustomization resources, or if this metadata key needs to be added to Kustomization resources in the kustomization-controller.
