What happened?

Hi there! An open thread listed a similar issue that was never followed up and I'm trying to troubleshoot and resolve it as well.

Running any me3 file or profile that isn't the actual me3 app version gives me the PC error that is listed in the title. I have verified I am running on AMD64x and have had no luck unfortunately.

Any help or ideas appreciated!

Does launching from a command-line work (me3 launch -p profile-name-or-path) or does it produce the same error?

I was able to run the default profiles through command prompt, but when I try and send it directly to the profile path it gives me an admin error?

What do you make of this:

The profile path should be the full path to the .me3 file including the extension (except when it's in the default %APPDATA% folder, as a special case) and I think that error there might be from attempting to open a folder as if it were a file. Is that path in your command a folder or the me3 file without the extension?

I had the profile path in the same folder as the mod and that was prompting the error. I am trying to find the root of the .me3 profile now which was made automatically when I downloaded the specific Nightreign mod so I'll retrace my steps and see if I can't figure it out from there. I have the exact same error here too. I downloaded ME3 for both myself and my son. It works great for me, but on my son's PC, I get that error. We are both on Windows 11 latest and both Intel CPU. Running it through the command line works, its only when trying to directly open the ME3 file that it errors.

One thing I noticed is that on his PC, it doesn't open with the correct program. Mine says me3-cli for "opens with" in properties while his just says the name of his PC account instead. When changing his to open with me3-cli, it no longer errors, but instead a window opens for a split second and then closes instantly.
