This is a hobby project to make it easier for people to find public DNA-sequencing datasets from the NCBI Sequence Read Archive and EBI European Nucleotide Archive (ENA).

It's been quietly running for years and become a daily tool used by researchers all over the world. Recently the ENA have put a CORS policy over their API however, which has broken the service.

Solving this with a CORS proxy would unblock a lot of life-science and medical researchers 😊

Great question - the data in question is massive, so you're right to be worried 😅 However, the API in question is only for the metadata about the data and not the actual downloads. So the bandwidth should be tiny.
