I tried installing the requirements using mamba rather than pip and ran into some issues.

Issue(s):

• conda-forge version of icepyx is v1.3 not >v2.
  • Suggested solution: update requirements.txt to specify version >2; update documentation with same information. Eventually can put conda back in once icepyx conda environment version is >2
• Minor: earthdata login/username required for querying data;
  • Suggested solution: add to documentation that you need an earthdata login/username to download test data (perhaps unnecessary if all users are assumed to already have such a username).

Can you elaborate on this? v2 was released on conda-forge nearly a year ago...

I meant to warn you about this. There are a few places we can point users to for more of this type of getting started information, but it's great to have you recording these "gotchas" as you get started since the rest of us are far less likely to notice them.

When I tried to install icepyx from conda it installed version 1.3 by default. But now I'm really confused because checking the conda-forge website it says 2.0.2 is available. https://anaconda.org/channels/conda-forge/packages/icepyx/overview

Even more confusing, I remember looking at this page previously and not being able to select anything higher than 1.3 under versions, yet the last update date suggests that I should have been able to 3 days ago when I tried.

Anyway, it appears to be fixed so I will test it again to make sure it works.

I'll continue to keep an eye out for "gotcha's" I agree it's super hard to remember they exist once you're already swimming in the water.
