Unable to initialize wifi adapter on ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR X870E HERO PCI id 14c3:7927

My motherboard is ASUS ROG CROSSHAIR X870E HERO. I have the Bluetooth adapter working with the module from this repository, but the WiFi PCIe adapter (PCI id 14c3:7927) does not work.

The system initializes the adapter, but then pretty much immediately destroys it -- see logs below.

Hi @rocketraman, thanks for the detailed logs.

The driver initializes fine — firmware loads, NetworkManager sees wlan0, rfkill appears — but then the device immediately vanishes. Something is tearing down the interface right after setup.

Could you grab a few more pieces of info?

1. Full dmesg around the event — the logs you posted are filtered. The removal cause is likely in dmesg between the init and the disappearance:

2. Does it ever work? Does WiFi come up sometimes, or does this happen every single boot?

3. Package version — you are on v2.4. Please upgrade to v2.5 before further debugging, as it includes fixes for MT7927 initialization (CBTOP remap, ASPM disable, band_idx). If you built from source:

4. IOMMU — your PCIe topology is deep (6 bridges). Check if disabling IOMMU changes anything:

The immediate rfkill disappearance suggests either a PCIe link drop or the driver hitting a fatal error during interface registration that gets swallowed. The dmesg output from (1) should reveal which.
