[FreshRSS] Force refresh feeds on the server

I have a FreshRSS server set up with manual updates (no auto-refresh of feeds).

Capy Reader's refresh functionality (either in the left bar or pull-down) syncs with the server, but does not fetch from the feeds themselves.

This is peculiar to the default setup of FreshRSS and I cannot speak for other servers, but it feels like there is a gap where a user would have to go to the web frontend to get new feeds, and then refresh Capy Reader again to pull them into the app.

Hey @superuser-does - this is a similar request to a conversation I had about Miniflux #1749 (reply in thread). Unlike Miniflux, I don't believe the FreshRSS Google Reader API exposes an endpoint to force a refetch from the client.

Capy Reader and other apps I've seen rely on the server to fetch from the feeds on their own interval. Is this a server you own? If so, is FreshRSS' cron-based refresh an option?

Yes, I did ultimately give in and set it up that way.

That said, I am still keen on the idea of triggering a server refresh from the app. The web is getting increasingly hostile to programmatic access (due to scraping) and that affects feeds also.

I was wondering - if it could be determined that the Server is FreshRSS, there is a possible feature here for Readers with the online cron option the same page describes. It would require a lot of engineering on the client's part though and possibly exposing keys for HTTP authentication like I'm using (with SSO set up). Hopefully FreshRSS and other platforms will consider extending their API in this way.
