Saving the last 3D DesignCAD for DOS

Hi I have either become dense in the head or MS and friends are actively making my wants impossible. I have a series of routine programs written for DesigCAD 3D (DOS) which I still use from time to time. I need a means of running DC3D on a modern machine at near the processor's speed.

I have written a routine program which will: ask you to identify the test machine, draw a couple of cabinets, loads a 3D kitchen drawing, then render the 3D drawing by hiding the non visible lines. When it finishes an information screen is displayed with the start/stop times, this information is also written to disc for reference. If somebody would like this tool let me know and I can email them or post them to the website.
I am trying to get a working DOS operating system window on a Zorin 18 Linux machine. At this point I have tried VirtualBOX DOS; (no means of getting data in or out except as image files), Win XP; (DC is working but the cursor is not captured accurately I can see the xyz coordinates changing but the cursor is not on the screen). DOSBox-X, I have not managed to get it to boot to anything but the Z:\ drive.

Hey @DPlusv3, preserving classic software like DesignCAD for DOS is so important! DOSBox-X is definitely the right place for this kind of work. If you're running into specific emulation issues (like video modes or printer redirection), the community here is usually very helpful with specific configuration tweaks. Hi at this point I have spent so much time fighting with windows and virtualbox trying to get around the bugs in them to just run. I tried DOSBox 9 years ago when I was finally forced out of full time using XP, the problem with it was I was spoiled with the 3Ghz Athlon's processor's speed. Speed is what got me started programing in the first place. 8 hours to print 1 view on the 12Mhz 286 was just too slow, with the 3Ghz Athlon and programing it was down to minutes.
Before I spend a pile more time on trying to get DB-X running what kind of speeds is it reasonably capable of producing, I don't want to go back to the issues of the 486. As it stands today I have 3 computers setting on my desk a 3Ghz Athlon XP machine just to run the DOS programs, a 4 month old Windows 11 machine, that has less real computing power and more aggravations than the 12 year old 3Ghz Opteron Workstation that microsoft has turned off with bugs, but runs Linux perfectly and I'm trying to get the programming functions I need in order to dump W11.

I think on modern host DOSBox achieves speeds comparable to 1.5GHz CPUs. Use .conf dynamic core (unless your software has problem with it).

After getting to Z:> use the INTRO command for guidance. Or the DOSBox-X wiki.
