We're excited to announce Open Notebook v1.7.0 is now available! This is a major release that makes
managing AI providers much easier and more secure.

🔑 API Keys Management via UI (The Big One!)

Say goodbye to editing .env files! We've built a complete credential management system:

• Settings → API Keys page for managing all your AI provider credentials
• Support for 14 providers: OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Groq, Mistral, DeepSeek, xAI, OpenRouter, Voyage
  AI, ElevenLabs, Ollama, Azure OpenAI, OpenAI-Compatible, and Vertex AI
• One-click setup: Test connection → Discover models → Register models
• Secure by default: AES-128-CBC + HMAC-SHA256 encryption
• Migration tool: Import your existing .env keys automatically

🚀 Getting Started is Now Super Easy

We completely revamped the onboarding experience:

• 2-minute setup from zero to running
• Simplified docker-compose.yml in the repo root
• Ready-made examples in examples/ folder:
  • docker-compose-ollama.yml - Local AI with Ollama

🐛 Bug Fixes

We fixed several issues reported by the community:

• Chat system async compatibility ([Bug]: ERROR: The SqliteSaver does not support async methods #509, fix: complete SqliteSaver async compatibility in chat routers #525, [Bug]: execute_command_sync receives 300 (int) as context instead of … #538)
• Re-embedding failures ([Bug]: Full re-embedding fails when items have empty content #513, Fix re-embedding issues and improve retry strategy #515)
• Deletion cascade (Notes and Sources are not deleting when deleting the Notebook #77)
• YouTube content issues ([Bug]: No content available of the youtube video #494)
• Large document embedding errors ([Bug]: Error when creating embedding for large imports #489)
