fleet of autonomous electric vehicles

Dear MATSim Team,
I am new to MATSim and I would like to use MATSim to test the performance of different dispatching strategies of a fleet of autonomous electric vehicles. While the MATSim user guide was of great help to get a general overview of the framework, I found little to no documentation for the contributions. I know how to do the basic things like loading a network, demand generation and getting the examples to run, but I am lost when it comes to what contributions to use to implement the fleet of electric vehicles and their dispatching strategies. It would be of great help for me if someone could nudge me in the right direction and tell me which of the contributions av, dvrp, drt, edrt, the new drt-extension, ev, urbanev or taxi are a good starting point and/or where I can find more documentation on how those components work together. To sum it up my 2 main questions are:

1. What contributions I need to use in order to simulate a fleet of autonomous electric vehicles and their charging stations?
2. How and where can I change the dispatching strategies being used and implement my own?

Hm, this is unfortunate. My guess would be that @sebhoerl @nkuehnel @luchengqi7 @mattiasingelstrom or @steffenaxer could be able to help you

1. You will need to use edrt contrib in order to run electric DRT service. You can just treat the vehicles as autonomous one and ignore the drivers onboard (which does not impact the analysis at all).
2. For custom dispatching strategies, I think this would be more complicated, as you will need to start from scratch to build your strategy. I would recommend you to start with playing around the parameters in the existing dispatching strategies and rebalancing strategies.

I want to use MATSim to compare the performance of custom dispatching algorithms. Playing around with the parameters in the existing strategies would therefore not be enough. If I am not mistaken I could also use the evrp or etaxi contribution instead of the edrt because I am not interested in shared rides. Would the custom implementation for an etaxi optimizer be easier than for edrt and what would be the steps necessary for implementing one?

Hi @20utlast a pretty good starting point to understand the scenario construction of a drt scenarios are the existing integration tests of the drt or drt-extension contrib. We currently have only one very versatile dispatching core that is very fast and allows plenty of parametrization.
