+ 1 MuseScore 4 removed the longstanding option for setting the width of the side panels. That decision negatively impacted my workflow by disturbing my customized palette logic. I had designed custom Palettes with six cells across—now the ease and functionality of that custom layout is lost since MuseScore 4. And there's another Palette regression: In MS3 reordering Palette tabs was simple and logical. Now if I drag a tab left or right MuseScore sends it below. Go figure. |

In the current version of MS4, we are not able to resize the width of docked panels. I believe this was a feature MS3.
Undocked panels can however be resized, but making the width smaller, even marginally, is not that useful as it causes the panel to obscure elements instead of resizing them. I understand that if a panel is made too small, not all elements will be able to resize adequately and they may become obscured, but even only slight resizing can cause the elements to become covered. Considering that elements are able to resize to larger widths implies the possibility of them resizing to smaller.
An undocked panel showing elements becoming obscured, including the three dot menu in the corner. In this example, there is ample space for the elements to be sized down without covering text.
This would make working on smaller screens easier as it would allow flexibility for how much screen space is used for the score or the workspace.
