Laser propagation direction

Should the openPMD files that are the output of a PIC simulation where a laser was used specify the laser propagation direction? I mean, should this be a part of the standard? I am asking because I've been burned many times due to the different conventions of fbpic and PIConGPU for example, and this really makes a difference at post-processing time.

Very good point @berceanu. Since many PIC codes support lasers from any side, this might be a very useful addition to the openPMD standard.

Hello @berceanu supporting this issue some code do not have the laser propagation along z axis . Anyway to add in the standard the axis of beam / laser propagation ? many thanks
