Description
Why are we doing this?
TRUD releases the NHS Primary Care Domain (PCD) refsets and the NHS Drug refsets whenever they are updated (i.e. not on a fixed release cycle). There are typically around four releases per year.
When a release occurs, we need to manually run a script to update the OpenCodelists service with the latest refsets.
At the moment, we rely on team members:
- creating a TRUD account, and-
- subscribing to email notifications for PCD and Drug refset updates,
in order to know when a release has happened.
This approach has a few real/potential issues, including:
- not all team members have a TRUD account
- not everyone with an account is subscribed to notifications
- email notifications can be missed or overlooked
As a result, there is a risk that refset updates are delayed or missed entirely.
How will we know when it's done?
- We have agreed as a team whether we want automated notifications for PCD and Drug refset releases in our Slack channel
- If we do want notifications, we have investigated whether this is feasible
- Based on that investigation, we have either:
- created an issue to implement the notification, or
- documented why it isn’t feasible or desirable and closed this issue
What are we doing?
- Discuss as a team whether we want automated notifications for PCD and Drug refset releases in Slack
If we decide yes:
- Investigate the feasibility of sending notifications to the TeamREX Slack channel when new PCD or NHS Drug refsets are released
- Create issue(s) to implement this work
If we decide no:
- Add a comment to this issue summarising the team’s decision and rationale
- Close this issue
