There are links to the appropriate Style dialog settings in the context menu (right-click) for more elements, including notes and accidentals. Plus as you mention, the set as style button in the Properties panel. But I don't personally think it work to have yet another way to do this - it would just need to be soemthing to discuss with the design team before proceeding. |

The design team indeed has plans to rethink the concept of the Style dialog a bit; maybe it won't even be one big dialog anymore. One of the goals of that project is indeed to make style settings more easily accessible and discoverable. But in the meantime I'll ask what they think of this simpler suggestion. |

When customizing style options globally I've always kind of struggled with navigating the layout panel and finding the right place to modify global styles and options (e.g. some text), especially when they aren't able to be changed individually. My proposal is to add links from most types of elements (especially text/appearance) to their respective place in the Format>Style tab.
I find this appropriate to be fitted in the Properties panel when selecting a note, which is currently used to modify some of the note's properties individually, in the form of a button "Style settings". Currently the only link to the global settings is the "Save as default style for this score" button, in which non-experienced users can't even find the global style options to reset them.
My question is, are you open for such a PR? Are you already discussing a big change in the current Style tab, meaning this work can't get merged? I have some free time in the upcoming weeks so I'll have time to work on it.
An example: You select an accidental, go to the properties, click on the bottom button named "Style settings" and it opens the Format>Style window on the Accidentals tab, where you can modify how you want to align accidentals in your score. Someone not knowing about that tab wouldn't have found that option
