Possible to switch from :debian tag to :latest tag?

Hey folks, i have a question.

For a paperless-ngx instance, i used to run the image docker.io/library/postgres:16
I switched to pgautoupgrade/pgautoupgrade:debian, which worked absolutely flawlessly and upgraded the db to pg v18.

I was wondering now that I switched the image to pgautoupgrade:
Would it be sensible/possible to switch from the :debian to the :latest tag, to reduce the footprint?
Or is it better to just stay on the :debian tag

Hi @sjuerges

There is issue #108 which documents issues when transitioning from Debian to Alpine in-place.

If you are worried about the size of the image, you can:

• Switch back to the official Postgres image until v19 is released and you have to upgrade again (hopefully :)).
• Dump your databases on the Debian instance and re-import them on a fresh Alpine-based installation.
