How to include numbered sections in type: website

Description

Trying to find a way to reproduce the section numbering capabilities in type: book but on a website. I see that I can add numbering in _quarto.yml, but I'd like to see each page numbered sequentially as well.

First, you really should upgrade your version of Quarto. 1.6 is quite old.

Regarding your question, there are no built-in way to do that, so you have to hack your way with JavaScript.

Why not use book type?

We've been using the book type, but occasionally need to publish revealjs slide presentations, and we were hoping to use the closeread format for some image-heavy courses. As far as I can see, neither of these work in the book type...unless I'm missing something there.
