USB drive volume

Could I have a USB drive be a volume? I want to be able to add data from another system onto a USB and then plug it into my Talos box and it loads as a volume.

I was reading on this page that I can load a disk https://docs.siderolabs.com/talos/v1.12/reference/configuration/block/uservolumeconfig

Would Talos ever format the disk when I apply config or something?

You certainly want to use ExistingVolumeConfig: https://docs.siderolabs.com/talos/v1.12/configure-your-talos-cluster/storage-and-disk-management/disk-management/existing which never partitions or formats your disk
