Several Non US Keyboard layout problems

I use german keyboard layout on host (Windows 11) an target (Linux Debian12) 'y' and 'z' are on the richt place, but the following keys do not work '´' '|' ''' '@' '€' '' '<' >'. It seems the ALt Gr does not work at all.
It is not possible to use the ALT-Codes (ex. ALT+124 for '|') because this combinations are not possible at all.

Simular problems as with the NanoKVM full since several months!
The Onboard-keyboard does not work for this keys, too!
So this tool is very limited to use for linux administration.

Tested with several hosts and target, with EXE and inside browser

The PiKVMs do not have such problems - so someone should look inside their code and fix this problems for the NanoKVMs!

I'm seeing similar with a UK keyboard set on both host/target.

After installing "console-data" (on Debian 12) and running "sudo loadkeys us" on the target I could use the all important (to me) "|" but other keys have moved/gone as you'd expect.

What Browser are you using ?

The Behavior with ALT (or CTRL etc) Key Combinations is something I experienced in Librewolf on Proxmox VE KVM (NoVNC). The Issue in that case seems to be related to an Option Resist Fingerprinting that exists and is enabled by Default in Librewolf.

Not sure this is also the cause of the Issues you are experiencing, but probably something worth to try 😃 .

@luckylinux I am seeing the same issues as @Marsupilani. Tested this with Chrome/Edge and Firefox on Windows + Chromium and Firefox on Ubuntu, same problem.

Exactly e.g.g german keyboard does not work. I have no problem with pikvm, there everythign works flawlessly.

Non US keyboard layouts are a BIG problem on NanoKVM-USB and also on the NanoKVM (Cube)!
Literally not usable without big troubles if keyboard layout is not set to US on target AND!!! host PC uses a different layout.
Special characters like @ are not working!

I know it is a big problem, but it should be possible to be fixed! - with pikvm I do not have such problems since years!
So In my opinion it should be possible to find a solution - we discuss such nanokvm problems since over a year, now.
If it will not be fixed, I think then we have a very crappy software until now.
This is something I have seen often during the last years, someone selled a product to the international market and tried to do price dumping, but is not willing to fix the problems.

Similar issues also with all US-Keyboard settings (physical keyboard =US, windows setting = US), even the on-screen keyboard has the following issue with !@#$% (chars above numbers, requiring Shift + 1 -> !, Shift 2 -> @) do not work. It looks like a timing issues on physical keyboard. On screen keyboard never works.

REPRODUCE:

On physical US keyboard (USB connected, LAN Gigabit connected from Windows 11 to NanoKVM PCIE board version 2.3.1 ):
Press Shift 5 secs, then press 1. It shows 1 (it should show !). Keep Shift pressed, press 1, it shows !. Subsequent show !.
For 2 with Shift -> @ - it sometimes shows a 2 or @ on first press, subsequent 2 presses produce always a @.

Looks like a timing issue but makes all special chars above the numbers unusable.
