<dt>Why a photo competition?</dt>
<dd>Photo competitions foster an atmosphere of creativity, pride and camaraderie -- it gives artists an outlet to do good while showcasing their best work.</dd>
<dt>Where does the money from my submission(s) go?</dt>
<dd>There are regions all over the world that need clean water and better sanitation; we focus on sub-Saharan Africa. Our partner, VOX United, is an international nonprofit that has sustainable, long-term relationships with people and communities there. As we identify specific projects, we publish these details so you know exactly how your donations are being used.</dd>
<dt>How much of every dollar goes toward clean water projects?</dt>
<dd>One hundred percent of all entry fees go toward the direct costs associated with clean water projects, including, but not limited to, well construction, well maintenance, water filter installation and education.</dd>
<dt>How much does it cost to build a well?</dt>
<dd>Wells cost anywhere between $3,000 to $6,000, but in 2011 we changed our commitment to focus on well restorations exclusively. Well restorations involves reviving an existing well (we love that idea); some wells might only need a $10 part while others need a multiple parts for $1000. Sometimes it takes a simple O-ring or a new section of PVC pipe to completely restore a well, crazy huh?. After analysis and strategic talks with Vox, we've decided that restoring well is the best way to stretch our funds and we're so excited about it.</dd>
<dt>Who is responsible for the construction associated with RTW-funded projects?</dt>
<dd>We always want local businesses investing in their communities. We work exclusively with VOX United and partner with locals in order to implement solutions and technologies appropriate to their geographic region and culture.</dd>
<dt>How many photos may a contestant enter?</dt>
<dd>There is no limit to how many photos one contestant can enter – entry fees vary depending on the number of entries. See our Official Rules on the "The Competition" section.</dd>
<dt>Are there any events associated with the River to Well Photo Competition?</dt>
<dd>Yes. In the fall of 2013, River to Well will exhibit winning photos in galleries all around the midwest and beyond. Historically, we've held photo exhibits in Kansas, Minnesota, and Colorado, and Texas but we're always looking to bring RTW to new cities. Be sure to check the Event page for complete details.</dd>
<dt>How will I know if I am a winner?</dt>
<dd>After the River to Well Judging Committee has completed all judging, each contestant will be notified by email that she or he has or has not won. Winners will receive instructions on when and where to pick up prizes.</dd>
<dt>Will you return my photo after the competition?</dt>
<dd>River to Well keeps all submissions. If you have specific questions, please refer to the Official Rules on the Submit page or email us at <a href="mailto:info@rivertowell.com">info@rivertowell.com</a></dd>
<dt>Who put this all together?</dt>
<dd>The RTW Team is comprised of a group of friends who have a passion for art and a deep love for people. We want to do good, change lives, restore wells and encourage others to join us in the fight for clean water.</dd>
