No "Close all" button for numerous Variable Explorer viewer windows

Clicking on a variable in the variable explorer pane opens this variable in a new window where its contents can be inspected. Currently these must be manually, individually closed, which is laborious if a person may have opened a lot of them.

It would be useful to have a "close all" button that is easily accessible in at least one of several locations:

• in the variable explorer pane (probably within the dropdown menu in the top right),
• within the dropdown menus of individual windows.
• within the Windows tab of the toolbar
• on the taskbar(?) at the bottom, where the variable windows are listed once they've been minimised

This idea was previously discussed at #21814 (amongst several other ideas that were actioned).

I'm a new contributor here so apologies if I'm missed any details, I appreciate everybody's work :)

Agreed.

Those three options are feasible because we can implement them directly in Spyder.

That's not possible because the taskbar is controlled by Windows. But I hope it's enough with the other options.
