Feature description
When I type or display Arabic text in the Termux terminal, I get two problems:
- The letters are shown disconnected from each other, instead of being
joined the way Arabic script normally looks.
- The text direction is left-to-right, but Arabic is supposed to be
right-to-left, so the whole line reads in the wrong order.
This makes it basically impossible to write or read Arabic text normally
in the terminal.
Device: Infinix HOT 60i (model Infinix X6728)
Android version: 15 (XOS 15.1.2)
Termux version: 0.118.3
Additional information
Modern terminal emulators like Kitty and iTerm2 (macOS) support proper
Arabic/RTL text shaping and bidi rendering.
There are older related requests in this repo that have been open for
years without progress: #920 and #2953. I'm opening this to add my own
experience as an Arabic-speaking user who hits this issue daily.
