Show whole timeline of all friends on the map

Hi!

First of all thank you for developing geopulse. It is very cool!

As far as I can see, there are currently two ways of sharing data with others:

1. Adding someone as a friend and then this person can see one's current/last location.
2. Sharing a link to a filtered view of one's timeline.

My usecase is a bit different. I want to see my own and all my family members' timelines and location histories on one map. Not only the last location but everything.

I can generally help with the implementation as I am java developer and there might be quite a few details that might need discussing. However, I wanted to first ask if this is a feature that fits into your vision for Geopulse or rather not.

Currently on "Friends Map" tab we show only your's and your friend's location (1 friend or all friends). It's simple and clear. How do you propose to show timeline (with stays and trips) for multiple users on one map? I can't figure out good UI for this.

Well, for sure it's going to look pretty messy when one sees the trips of multiple people in the same map, that's probably unavoidable :-).

As a first inspiration: We currently use Nextcloud's Phonetrack (which is a lot less sophisticated than Geopulse, hence I want to switch :-)). Phonetrack simply connects the GPS dots and each user gets its own color. On top, there is a small menu with checkboxes where I can select the users that should be shown on the map. For this feature, that would be sufficient for me.

Mabye in Geopulse we could do something similar, with different colors for different users and maybe some transparency where different users overlap? If it helps, we are only 5 people, so this feature (for me) does not need to scale to infintly many users :-).

Hi tess1o,

the UI looks very nice! However, I have some troubles with the date picker. I cannot select any custom timeframe. When I try, it always automatically resets to the last 7 days. However, all the presets work fine. Funnily enough, the date picker on the the main timeline works perfectly fine for me.

It works for me in Chrome and Safari. Try to reset cache in browser, check if you see errors in browser console.

Ok, I am using Firefox. I will close this idea for now as it has been impleted very nicely. I will investigate further and open another idea or issue if I find that something is actually broken. Afterall, the problem might be me :-). Thanks a lot for your quick responses!
