I was about to reverse engineer the protocol for Atorch DLB-600W digital load, which has even mode load modes.

does it mean you have tried to figure out the rest too, or just omit it as you did not need it?

Yes, I tried. There does not seem to be a way to choose it, or at least I found none even with interrogating of Uncle Google. The CC mode is implemented in hardware. The other modes are implemented in software, by continually fiddling with the constant current setting for the hardware comparator. Which will naturally be more prone to various instabilities, so I think these modes are more a marketing point than a "real" function. (Actual usefulness depends on the loop time constants, immunity to oscillations...)

I did not see any software that allows mode change, but then again, the software-mess is not really even made for a digital load, but rather some appliance-inline-measuring
I find it interesting that commanding 0.7A while the device is running in CR mode, (or any other mode) - correctly sets the CC mode to 0.7A. - so the values are written to different registers regardless of mode.

Which makes me want to try to write in similar formats to other random registers, if current is command 02d
( set current 02 xx yy xx=integer, yy=decimal (00..99d))

it would be interesting writing similar bytes to any unknown commands (06d , 07d, 08 and so on) then check the display in different modes to see when/if we changed something.

Maybe you have already tried things like this? (just brute-forcing some results.)
