Question

i have tried to upload my dataset in zip folder as instructed, but after showing loading for a very long time it just returns the error
"Timeout: No response from the server.", my dataset is 6.7GB in size with 1500 classes in the yaml

Your layout looks generally fine. A few checks and proven workarounds for large uploads (6.7 GB, 1500 classes) that should unblock you:

Quick validation and formatting

• YAML key must be val (not valid). If your folder is images/valid that’s OK, just point val to it:
  path: merged_dataset_for_upload
  train: images/train
  val: images/valid
  test: images/test

• Place the dataset YAML inside the root folder and make sure the folder name, YAML name, and ZIP name all match. Then zip from one level above:
  zip -r merged_dataset_for_upload.zip merged_dataset_for_upload

• Locally pre-validate before re-uploading:
  from ultralytics.hub import check_dataset
  check_dataset("merged_dataset_for_upload.zip", task="detect")
  This catches path/key issues early and mirrors the HUB-side check. See the check_dataset reference.

Reduce upload friction (recommended for very large zips)

• Shrink JPEGs to reduce the ZIP size (often 2–5x smaller) before zipping. For example:

Sanity check

• Try a small subset (e.g., 100–200 images) with the same YAML to confirm structure and rule out formatting errors. If the subset works, the original issue is almost certainly size/connection related.

If it still times out, please share:

• The exact ZIP size on disk
• The dataset ID (from the HUB URL)
• Browser + version and region
• Approximate upload bandwidth
• The output of check_dataset

A couple of tips while the HUB SDK upload runs, plus how to verify it completed:

• Keep the SDK process running until you get a response (multi‑GB uploads can take a while, depending on upstream bandwidth).

• Capture the HTTP response so we can see the status if anything fails:

• dataset ID (from the HUB URL)
• exact ZIP size on disk
• your region and approximate upload bandwidth
• the SDK call’s status_code and first ~200 chars of the response body
• the output of your local check_dataset run (if you haven’t posted it yet)
