Hint upvoting

Recording here a suggestion to allow upvoting of useful hints, worth 0.01 spades to the hint author (or whatever).

I personally am not super excited about this (adds complexity as well as gamification always adding some bad incentives) but want to have the request written down in the tracker. Feel free to comment.

One idea to try and prevent gamification is to have some way of assigning hints an author (which is itself nontrivial as people can modify and edit hints), and then having a way to have people submitting units reward specific hints / hints on problems that they used during the unit.

How would edited hints work in this case? Like say Author A wrote the hint, and Author B edited the hint and made it a lot better. In this case, if a person wants to "upvote" that hint, who would the spades get added to?

personally think it should be based on # of displayed characters written/LLM similarity [by tokens] vs the last edit (the initial author gets a share of 1, and every following author gets $5 \left(1 - \frac{E_{i} \cdot E_f}{\lvert E_i \rvert \lvert E_f \rvert} \right)$) where the weights .
