Firefox - audio level randomly resets itself to 1 when watching Youtube

I'm not sure if it's something on my end, but for a week or so, the audio level will sometimes reset itself to 1 when watching Youtube videos on Firefox. I was unable to identify any cause or pattern and couldn't find a way to reproduce it.

Unrelated and as a sidenote, but why is it no longer possible to use the mousewheel / arrow keys to adjust the volume level without explicitly clicking on it? It used to be possible to simply click on the addon icon and then adjust the gain with the mousewheel / arrow keys. The mousewheel does not seem to work at all anymore. I'd really appreciate it if this was possible again.

Looks like Firefox changes, I've added an <input type=range> to this page here and it doesn't react to the mouse wheel at all either. Honestly makes sense since it was really annoying when an input would grab the mousewheel if your cursor ended up on an input in between page scrolls.

It seems as if it's caused by Youtube reloading the video (not the page) during playback - probably because it tries to play an ad that gets adblocked. Might be a recent change. Maybe there is a possibility to have the audio level persist through such reloads? As for the mousewheel, I understand. Only something minor anyway. I'm really happy with soundfixer overall; it's indispensable for me, so thank you!

Oh, interesting. Would definitely explain why I've never seen that, as I have YT Premium
