Some improvements in EPUB 3 export don’t work for EPUB 2 #34
Description
InDesign has gained some accessibility improvements that benefit EPUB 3 (and especially reflowable EPUB 3).
EPUB 2 is also offered as an export from InDesign. Whilst it is discouraged by many distributors, some content creators may still want to produce it.
However, old EPUB 2 standard is no longer maintained and does not include some of the features of EPUB 3. Some of the latest improvements for EPUB 3 export are also applied the EPUB 2. This results in invalid EPUB 2 files.
A possible solution is to remove the accessibility improvements from the EPUB 2 export and keeping them exclusively for the EPUB 3 export. This will ensure that the EPUB 2 export remains valid according to the outdated specifications, while still providing an accessible and modern EPUB 3 version.
