version 16.0.0: audioreactive effect jerkiness on esp32 (ESP-32D)

What happened?

I installed 16.0.0 (and then 16.0.1) onto my trusty esp-32D (it doesn't say WROOM on the casing), which worked great with 0.15.4 (4m-S I think was the image), and since then the audioreactiv mode seems sluggish or jerky, not smooth.

To Reproduce Bug

Load 16.0.0 ESP32.bin (or ESP32_DEBUG) onto the device, and start an audio reactive effect. Mine:

"4m-S" sounds like a moon modules build. It has much more advanced audio processing. We are working on bringing some of it upstream.

yes, confirmed. "4m-S" is part of a WLED-MM firmware filename.

Edit:

Mode 3 (DOUT), speed 40 MHz.

Besides WLED-MM audioreactive being almost 3 years ahead of "vanilla WLED", the slow flash speed might contribute to "jerkiness".
Also you might want to increase "Target FPS" in LEDs & Hardware settings, this will help the Freqwav effect to look more like flowing.
