Show the tray icon grayed out

The tray icon option is grayed out:

Is there a reason for this or is it a bug? I'm on fedora 43 using the flatpak version 8.0.0.

We disable the tray based on the value returned by QSystemTrayIcon::isSystemTrayAvailable(). So for some reason Qt is reporting that the system tray is not available in your system. Are you using GNOME? I think that we started to check if tray is available after EE crashed on @Digitalone1 system because gnome did not expose support for tray.

Thanks for the info. I am using GNOME. Is there any workaround?

During the time I used GNOME I installed one of those "appindicator" extensions that puts a system tray in GNOME's top bar. If it worked with Steam and the megasync app it probably will be enough to make EasyEffects tray icon and menu functional.

I do use the AppIndicator and KStatusNotifierItem Support extension already. Is it possible that some permission is required for the flatpak?

Hum... I admit I have no idea. I do not remember flatpak requiring special permission to put an icon in the system tray. Are you aware of any @vchernin ?

Unfortunately the tray icon requires a sandbox hole in order to work at all.

This will be fixed by default in #4321. In the meantime you can run:

For system installations:

sudo flatpak override com.github.wwmm.easyeffects --talk-name=org.kde.StatusNotifierWatcher

For user installations:

flatpak override --user com.github.wwmm.easyeffects --talk-name=org.kde.StatusNotifierWatcher
