Platform updates (2026-09)

Remove from 8.x:

• Debian 11
• Ubuntu 25.04
• Fedora 42

Add:

• Fedora 45 (and maybe 46)

Change:

• MacOS minimum to 14 (from 13)

Can still build MacOS x86_64 for now.

Will keep el7 and AL2 for now, since builds are still working and we have requests for them.

Request for solaris 11 sparc, but we don't have the ability to build right now

I'll ask Freexian if they're interested in supporting us; that would potentially put Debian 11 back in the picture if there's any interest

that seems reasonable and in line with our policy (cf
https://wiki.debian.org/LTS/Extended). Please ask them to submit their
request to sales@freexian.com.

Beware however that the access token is private so you need to pay
attention that it doesn't become visible in any public container image or
CI log or similar.

Do we want to add Ubuntu 26.10 alongside Fedora 45?

In the past, we’ve mostly decided not to support the .10 releases since they only live for 6 months. But we could if there’s demand for it.
