QuatermainPythonQuest
🤠 Quatermain's Python Quest (v0.1-Beta)
Welcome to the very first playable preview! This project was built in just a single day as a fun, interactive way to practice and test knowledge for the PCEP Exam (Python Certified Entry-Level Programmer) wrapped in a nostalgic 80s arcade style.
Since this is an early prototype, consider it a diamond in the rough. If people enjoy the concept, I would love to keep developing it, add more modules, and refine the gameplay! If you like where this is going, please leave a star ⭐ on the repository to let me know!
🚀 Features in this Release:
- PCEP Question Core: Interactive questions covering Python fundamentals, control flow, collections, and functions.
- Retro Arcade Aesthetics: C64/NES-inspired blinking screens and dynamic color themes.
- 8-Bit Soundtrack: Complete with ambient background loops and a dedicated Boss-Theme for high-difficulty questions.
- Local Highscores: Save your 3-letter initials and race for the Top 10 leaderboard.
🛠️ How to Play on macOS (Standalone App):
- Download and unzip
QuatermainPythonQuest-beta1-may.zip. - Inside, you will find the standalone Mac Application.
- Important macOS Note: Because this app is not officially signed with an Apple Developer Certificate, macOS Gatekeeper will block a standard double-click.
- To open it: Simply Right-Click (or Ctrl+Click) the App icon, select "Open", and then click "Open Anyway" in the pop-up window. You only need to do this once!
Note: Depending on your specific macOS scaling and Tkinter backend, the application window might render in a retro square format. All sound, logic, and gameplay features are fully operational!
Enjoy the quest, and don't forget to drop a ⭐ if you want to see this project grow! 🐍🔥
