I'm Brandon, a Senior Software Engineer at Newton, building distributed systems and backend infrastructure for one of Canada's leading regulated digital asset trading platforms.
Over the past 8+ years I've built software across visual effects, SaaS, and fintech. I've worked on production pipeline systems at Industrial Light & Magic (The Walt Disney Company) and Framestore, multi-tenant SaaS platforms at ScalePad, and now trading infrastructure at Newton. Each role has reinforced the same principles: build reliable systems, automate repetitive work, and keep complexity under control.
I enjoy building software that solves practical problems and continues to scale as products and teams grow.
These days my work focuses on:
- Distributed backend systems
- Platform engineering
- Cloud infrastructure (AWS)
- APIs and microservices
- Data platforms and PostgreSQL
- Full-stack applications with Next.js, NestJS, and TypeScript
Most of my time is spent designing production systems that are reliable, observable, and easy for other engineers to work with.
Over the past 8+ years I've worked across fintech, SaaS, and visual effects, building everything from trading infrastructure and regulatory reporting systems to data platforms and studio production tooling.
I enjoy learning new technologies, improving developer workflows, and finding simpler solutions to complex engineering problems.
My pinned repositories are a mix of:
- Backend services
- Distributed systems
- Full-stack applications
- Infrastructure and automation
- Developer tooling
- Personal projects where I experiment with new ideas
