Title Bar Visual Glitch

What happened?

Title Bar gains a lighter colored rectangle after some time of desktop usage. Rebooting or changing the theme back and forth resolves it temporarily. I have not determined what causes it to start happening.

I am currently on Plasma 6.7.2 (Wayland) but this has been happening on both of my Arch Linux machines for at least the last several months since I started using this theme.

henlo @zachcheatham , i dug into this properly and can confirm its not our theme. our aurorae files are just plain svg + config. no code, so this has to be kwins aurorae engine itself.

best guess at the mechanism, each titlebars button hover highlight is just a mousearea flag in auroraes qml that only clears when kwin forwards a proper mouse left event to the decoration. kwin has a known history of dropping that event in specific situations e.g. here which was the exact same 'highlight stays stuck until you move the mouse' bug for the maximize button fixed back in kwin 5.11 for that one trigger. this looks like the same class of bug showing up againt rhough a different trigger that isnt covered by that old fix.

couldnt find an existing upstream report for this specific one, so i'm going to file a report with aurorae and it would help if you or anyone else hitting this can narrow down what triggers it like:

• does it happen after using overview/present windows?
• after switching virtual desktops?
• after quick click drag off a button?

gonna leave this one open until the upstream bug is fixed, will drop the link here and close it out once it's tracked.

I tried to correlate the issue with these triggers but have been unable to find the specific action that causes the glitch to start occurring. Not sure if its related, but I am running dual monitors on both machines.

It is very hard to reproduce as it happens at random. Sometimes after of couple of hours of uptime, sometimes after a few days. When I maximise the window the visual glitch disappears but when restoring the window it is still there.

Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot so we can supply with more information when this occurs?
