Thanks for the PR, that's the strategy I use in old versions of the addon and I agree it's most consistent with the Blender design concept, but as I remember lot of people have trouble with it (mostly newbies) that's why I choose a more explicit UI. Note sure what's the best solution here. |

Thanks, that makes sense. Perhaps pre-selecting the active object in the dropdown would be a good compromise? |

Rather than having a dropdown list of objects in the import dialog box, it seems more straightforward and Blenderish to just use the active object.
